The first pathway on the Precinct has been pegged out!
Steve Swayne (former surveyor), Dr Les Hall (noted zoologist), and Ron Sharp (Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve team) delineated the track with a good quality Garmin GPS datalogger this morning. Being able to walk and data log the proposed route added considerably to our knowledge of the land and helped to better define the best place to construct the pathway. We also took the opportunity to delineate the proposed connection between the parklands and the riparian zone along Obi Obi You can see the pathway via Google Earth. If you don't have Google Earth, it can be downloaded here. (it's worth having, by the way) The first file - found here - shows the Class 1 walkway. The second file - found here - demarks the buffer zone of the connection of the Obi Obi Creek riparian zone to the wetlands. This has been the first opportunity for us to accurately delineate the wetlands area which will encompass over 9 hectares of valuable wildlife habitat and become a great recreational opportunity for the people of Maleny. |

Green Hills has completed work in the MCP demarking the proposed Class 1 walking track around the northern wetlands area. The indicative route was pegged out with 80 capped star pickets on Monday of this week by a good team of volunteers, with support from Barung Landcare.
